Megacities

Megacities are a recent trend in urban and population geography. The previous focus on settlement patterns and general description of urbanisation has neglected the growth of megacities within countries. The urbanisation growth has continued in the developed and developing world. As this trend accelerates in the developing world more of these megacities emerge. What does the concentration of people in large world cities mean to long term sustainability?
