Infectious Diseases Volume 1: Video 01.43
01.43
A video clip showing N. fowleri organisms in motion.
The amoebae put out a pseudopod (a projection of the cell membrane).
The contents of the cell pour into the pseudopod which is now in a slightly different position.
Another pseudopod appears and the process is repeated.
This process is called ‘amoeboid movement.’
If you speed up the video, the movement is seen more clearly.
