Infectious Diseases Volume 2: Video 05.18

05.18

This is a short video clip of a miracidium hatching from a S. haematobium egg.
The video was made by Dr. Ian Gassiep and Dr. Stephanie Hendry, pathology trainees who were working in the Pathology Queensland laboratory in Townsville, north Queensland in 2019.
The laboratory manager is Mr. Andrew Cross, the scientist who shared the diagnosis of case one with me 28 years ago.
The miracidium is moving more quickly than the one photographed in 05.17.
The egg begins to move, and then about half way through the video, a miracidium bursts out and starts moving very quickly.
